Salzburg Festival
When the city dresses up nicely and gets really pretty, then it is the time of the Salzburg Festival. Numerous events, from operas to plays to concerts, delight spectators from all over the world year after year.
Jedermann - the play of the rich man’s death
The flagship of the Salzburg Festival is inextricably linked to its history since its founding in 1920 like no other. Every year, the Domplatz becomes the stage for the play by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. In case of bad weather, the performance is moved to the Festspielhaus. The leading roles in the productions of the past years include such illustrious names as Klaus Maria Brandauer, Cornelius Obonya or Tobias Moretti as well as Miriam Fussenegger, Birgit Minichmayr or Stefanie Reinsperger as the seductive Buhlschaft.
Culture in all alleys and on the squares
The festival flair can also be experienced away from the events. The whole town brims with the splendour of the cultural highlights and celebrates the beautiful life in the outdoor restaurants, at side events or simply strolling in the festival district or around the Getreidegasse. From the Grünauerhof you can reach the old town with the venues in the Festspielhaus, the Haus für Mozart, the Felsenreitschule, the Landestheater and the Mozarteum in 10 minutes by car.
The Festival in other seasons
The Salzburg Festival does not only take place in July and August but has no less exclusive pendants in the form of the Whitsun Festival and the Easter Festival. Please remember to reserve your desired tickets for the Salzburg Festival early. Then all that remains is a stress-free journey and a suitable “pre-show” at the Grünauerhof, where you will be pampered with wellness and indulgence.
